A retro game shelf inside a thrift shop

Chicago has a handful of dedicated retro video game stores, and they are good at what they do — graded, sleeved, priced to the current market. This is not that. Jojin’s Kitty is a thrift shop that happens to have accumulated a serious shelf of sixth-generation games, and they are priced accordingly.

The strongest sections by far are GameCube and PlayStation 2, with smaller runs of N64, NES, Wii and PS4. Discs, carts, the occasional controller and accessory.

What to expect

The GameCube shelf is the one worth making the trip for. It is the largest single console section in the shop and it turns over steadily, so it is genuinely different from one month to the next.

Bring a list

Because it is a thrift shop, stock is whatever came through the door — there is no distributor and no reorder. If you are hunting something specific, the live inventory below is the fastest way to check, and calling ahead costs you nothing. If it is not here this week, it might be next week.
